My fathers son!

"The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands." John 3:35

Once a year, there is a day we celebrate Fathers day. It took 62 years for Fathers Day to become a national holiday. Yet, it takes only 9 months to become a Dad, and sometimes sooner. They always say anyone can be a father, but only the select few are really Dads. There are many women that have had to pick up the role as Dad and for them I would have to say that is an amazing challenge. Even though it is amazing it is also, so wrong in many cases. Guys we cannot drop the ball on this one. Our children need their Dads. They need Dads and their Moms need their husbands to be there for their children. Where would be without our heavenly father? Can you imagine not having him there to talk to when you need someone to talk to?

I have a confession. I am just a father. Not a Dad. I have six children I have no clue who they are. Sure, I talk with them a couple times a year, and I have a place in my heart that is reserved just for them. I am there when they ask for things they need, but I could not tell you what any of their favorite colors are. It's such a shame that I can tell you what some of our homeless friends favorite colors are over my own children. Granted I had no control over the decision to not have them living with me. But, like so many other parents I have kids somewhere out there not knowing what is going on in there lives. Can you imagine knowing you have a child living on the streets. I don't care if they are 8 years old or 45. Your child is living under a bridge or maybe even in a trash can. Let's take it a bit further. How about knowing your son is living on the streets knowing soon he will be dead. Soon he will be persecuted and hung from a cross. His best friends will deny him and even turn him in. That's a Father. Wait, that's Our Father. The sameFather that takes time every time we call out his name in prayer and listens. Do you ever feel unworthy of such a love? I do all the time, fbut I am thankful to have such a wonderful creator in my life. I am also, thankful my children have the same ather that watches over them.

Our campers live day to day, hope is not a term used very often. If you have ever served you would know by looking in the eyes of a homeless person you would know that there is very little you can say to bring a twinkle in their eyes. Key word there is say. However, actions speak louder than anything you could say. Like prayer, to some it's only words. To a homeless friend it's actions followed with words. We came out and served food. We showed up week after week. We showed them love not just any kind of love, but an unconditional love. We are lot afraid to hug on them and hold their hands. We are not afraid to love them. Better yet, we get to have them love on us. God has given us the honor to be loved by the hidden and the forgotten. God has shown us that love comes in many forms.

God has let us see love come from friends on both sides of the ministry. I have to say, in the summer months, we see a decline in our friends serving and an increase in our friends on the street. So, I am going to say a very special thanks to some of the ladies that have been there through allot. Like one of the ladies that may be shy in person, but the love just flows from her every time she is out. The streets have names for our people and they call her Mustang. Julie thanks for coming out and serving with us. Then you have the prayer lady. Beth, you have been there and you have inspired many with your prayers. I brought up these two sisters, because they have such an unconditional love and a have showed the power that comes along with serving our Lord. Thank you sisters!!!!!

We have had a wonderful group of leaders. They love what we do and they care about our campers. I know when we were going through some family hardships, God put these wonderful friends into our lives in a time where if they were not there, I believe that Light of Salvation would not be here. So, I thank God for bringing them into our lives and into the lives of so many campers. You need to understand, these fellow servants are the most amazing group of friends, that they really do complete our ministry. I don't know what else to say, but thanks for sharing in our life. Thanks for serving our ather together. You are my brothers and sisters, and just by being able to say that, I am blessed.

Do you know how you know you are doing something good in the eyes of our Lord? Because Satan unleashes his anger on you and the ones you care about the most. He has done this for the last few months. Not just one attack, but one after another. Satan is not in a hurry. Satan has already begun his attack that will hit you in a month or even in a year. That's what happened in our family. Satan begun his attack months ago. I thought nothing could go wrong. We put together the most amazing leadership team, I went through the Emmaus Walk. I thought my marriage was growing. I believed we found a new church. The ministry was stronger than ever. Then he hit. Satan brought down my world. I took several months to recover from this attack and everything suffered. My marriage, my part in our ministry, relationships with my friends and even our new church. Satan had begun to take over my life. Then it happened. God stepped in and wrapped his Holy Spirit around me. Our Fathers love saved me. Why? Because I held out my hands, and begged him to take my pain away. Our Lord heard me cry out, no he heard me beg for him. Our Father heard me. Me, the one person that I thought was not even near deserving of his mercy heard me. Our Father saved me from myself, and from Satan. I am publicly singing out my thanks to our Lord. Lord you are my Father and I am your servant. I thank you for taking the pain away, maybe not all of it, but enough where I can handle what Satan has done. Satan, I rebuke you in the name of our Lord.

There are several titles I have. I have them and they mean so much to me. I am called Pastor Bubba, Michael, Husband, friend, and most of all son of our Heavenly Father. I have the honor of serving our Father in a ministry with some of the most God fearing Christians I have ever met. I am the son of our heavenly Father. I share the same Father with everyone we meet on the streets. I share the same Father as you.

Thank you Father for loving me.
